About One Acre Fund
One Acre Fund works with smallholder farmers to grow their harvests and incomes. In Tanzania it has served farmers for more than a decade in Iringa, Njombe, Songwe and Mbeya, with pilots in Morogoro, Dodoma and Singida.
The Tanzania programme runs farm input shops (dukas), supplies trees and registers farmers for carbon credits, brokers market contracts for crops such as avocados and cashews, and gives extension advice through farm visits and SMS. As the government has expanded fertiliser supply, the programme has moved from providing credit toward these services.
