WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group's Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high-impact learning experience at the heart of global development. The World Bank Country Office in Tanzania is seeking a Communications Intern to join its External Affairs team and support the institution's communication and public engagement work across the country. The intern will report to the Senior External Affairs Officer in Tanzania. The anticipated duration of the internship is five months, part-time.

Core responsibilities span five areas. m. every weekday, covering English-language press, online, and broadcast stories alongside translated Kiswahili summaries. Second, the intern will use available AI tools including WBG's mAI to support search, translation, and summarisation of Kiswahili content while retaining editorial judgment over final quality and framing.

Third, the intern will monitor social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and relevant blogs to flag coverage requiring management attention, using AI-assisted tools to track volume and sentiment trends. Fourth, the intern will help translate the Country Office's social media objectives into an action plan aligned with World Bank Social Media Guidelines, maintain the content calendar, support audience research and performance reporting, and monitor emerging trends including AI-driven content. Fifth, the intern will periodically travel within Tanzania to support multimedia documentation of results from World Bank Group-supported operations, including conducting stakeholder interviews, writing web features, and capturing photos and video. Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, an undergraduate program with zero to six years of relevant professional experience, strong analytical and research skills, effective written and verbal communication abilities, proficiency in English, and demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group's mission.
