CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognised as a leader in girls' education, women's empowerment, and child protection practice. Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports young women throughout their primary and secondary school years, into economic training and further education, and onto leadership as role models, activists, and philanthropists. CAMFED Tanzania is seeking a Transport Officer and Office Assistant for its Dar es Salaam office. This two-year fixed-term position, reporting to the Administration Officer, combines vehicle operation and administrative support responsibilities for the Tanzania country programme.
The Transport Officer will drive office vehicles across various districts in Tanzania, maintaining defensive driving standards and briefing passengers on safety procedures before each journey. Daily vehicle inspections are required to verify cleanliness, proper condition, and functionality, with accurate record-keeping on trip sheets, fuel purchases, incident reports, and vehicle condition. The post holder coordinates staff vehicle requests with the Administration Officer, finalises transport and maintenance schedules, and reports any deviations or mechanical issues promptly. Additional responsibilities include delivering office documents, mail, and parcels to vendors, partners, and customers, maintaining fuel records, processing administrative requisitions, supporting meeting preparation, acting as receptionist when needed, photocopying and collating documents, and managing the stationery store.
Adherence to CAMFED procurement and organisational policies is essential. Essential qualifications include at least a Form IV Certificate, while desired attributes include a valid Class A, B, D, or E driving licence with certification from VETA or the National Institute of Transportation, at least five years of driving experience with a reputable organisation, fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili, computer literacy, Tanzanian citizenship, and age not above 40 years.
