About this role
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Budget and Programming Associate to provide specialized support for efficient planning, monitoring, and analysis of project financial performance at its Dar es Salaam Country Office in Tanzania. The role contributes to the optimal use of financial resources across humanitarian operations and supports the broader mission of saving lives in emergencies while building stability for communities recovering from conflict, disasters, and climate change impacts. Core responsibilities include reviewing budget plans and monitoring project financial performance against WFP financial policies, procedures, and best practices, while providing comprehensive analysis on fund and grant balances to identify surpluses and deficits and recommend corrective measures. The Associate supports pipeline management to prevent and address pipeline breaks, enters project budget plans and revisions into corporate systems, and compiles data and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Additional duties include contributing to the Country Office Resource Management Committee, supporting Global Commodity Management Facility supply lines, maintaining communication with stakeholders on fund management matters, and guiding other support staff in budget planning and operational planning. The minimum requirements are completion of secondary education with a post-secondary certificate in a relevant functional area, six or more years of progressively responsible experience in general administrative work, demonstrated experience monitoring budgets, resource plans, pipelines, and supply chains, and experience preparing, managing, and reporting on operational budgets. Fluency in both oral and written English is required. This is a full-time fixed-term contract for twelve months based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
