About this role

Jhpiego is recruiting a Technical Officer for Maternal and Neonatal Health in Mwanza, Tanzania, under the Pivotal (GATHER) Project. The post holder will provide technical and programmatic support for MNCH interventions, focusing on designing and implementing service delivery strategies for postnatal care for small and sick newborns and ensuring alignment with scientific evidence and national standards. The officer will collaborate with regional and council health management teams and partners, support regional adaptation of GATHER approaches, and contribute to work planning, budgeting, and reporting. Responsibilities also include coordinating MNH trainings, integrating RMNH services, supporting performance and quality improvement at clinical sites, and building provider and supervisor capacity through mentorship, on-site technical assistance, coaching, and assessments aligned with the Program Performance Monitoring Plan.

The officer will represent GATHER in regional, district, facility, and community-level meetings, will ensure programmes align with Jhpiego and national RMNH standards, and will document activities, lessons learned, and success stories. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in nursing, medicine, or a related field, at least five years of experience in reproductive, maternal, and newborn health programming, and at least five years as a classroom and clinical trainer. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, flexibility, dependability, self-motivation, and excellent written and verbal English and Swahili are required. Mentoring, coaching, and teamwork are preferred strengths.
