Senior Technical Advisor, Laboratory Services
About this role
FHI 360 is recruiting a Senior Technical Advisor for Laboratory Services to join its EpiC Project in Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam. The post provides technical expertise for laboratory strengthening activities supporting HIV, tuberculosis, and related diagnostic services at Police and Prison health facilities and public-sector HIV care and treatment sites. Day-to-day work includes supporting diagnostic algorithms, specimen collection, referral, and result communication; strengthening quality management systems; mentoring laboratory staff; reviewing data for gaps; monitoring commodities and equipment; contributing to training and SOPs; and reporting on laboratory indicators. Candidates require a master's degree in medical laboratory sciences, biomedical sciences, clinical laboratory sciences or a closely related field, and at least six years of progressive experience supporting national laboratory systems, laboratory networks, and referral systems.
Registration and licensing with the appropriate Tanzanian professional regulatory body are required. Experience in NGOs, government ministries, implementing partner or donor settings, molecular testing platforms, and project planning, budgeting, and donor reporting is also expected. A master's in public health or laboratory management is an added advantage. FHI 360 is a global development organization; its EpiC Project in Tanzania works with the Ministry of Health, NHLQATC, NASHCoP, NTLP, the Police Medical Unit, Prisons Health and Nutrition Unit, and regional and council health management teams to strengthen laboratory networks and quality improvement.
This full-time position reports to the Technical Director, may supervise junior staff, is based in an office environment, and requires 10 to 25 percent domestic travel to council and facility sites. FHI 360 offers a competitive benefits package and an expected annual basic salary of TZS 90,000,000 to 130,000,000.
