Market Access Lead

One Acre Fund

About this role

5 million smallholder farmers across nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The organisation provides farm supplies, seedlings, credit, agronomic training, and market access services that help farmers increase their income by more than 35 percent on average. One Acre Fund established its Tanzania programme in 2013, which now supports more than 100,000 farmers and is headquartered in Iringa with additional offices in Mbeya, Njombe, and Moshi. The Tanzania Market Access Lead is a senior commercial role at the heart of OAF Tanzania's strategic ambitions.

The post holder will define and lead the organisation's market access strategy and portfolio, deciding which value chains to prioritise and shaping the commercial models needed to make them viable. Core responsibilities include building the market access portfolio starting with cashews and expanding to other crops such as avocado, developing commercially sound models for processing and aggregation, negotiating and managing strategic partnerships with processors and buyers, and aligning field operations with both commercial requirements and farmer inclusion goals. The post holder will also drive financial analysis, implement performance tracking systems, and identify and mitigate operational and regulatory risks. Leading a team across farmer-facing and commercial workstreams, the role requires comfort moving between high-level strategy and operational detail.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, economics, agribusiness, agriculture, or supply chain management and possess at least five years of experience in agribusiness, market access, or commercial agriculture with a track record of leading teams and delivering strategy. Strong commercial instincts, financial modelling capability, and practical knowledge of value chains from farmer aggregation through to processing and export are essential. The role is based in Iringa, Tanzania with some travel expected, and reports to senior country leadership. Compensation includes health insurance, housing, and comprehensive benefits.

This is a fixed-term contract of two years and is only open to Tanzanian citizens or permanent residents.
