Market Access Lead

One Acre Fund

About this role

One Acre Fund, founded in 2006, equips smallholder farmers across nine African countries with farm supplies, training, credit, and other agricultural services to increase farm productivity and resilience. The organisation supports approximately 5.5 million farmers worldwide, with a Tanzania programme established in 2013 that now serves over 100,000 farmers in the Iringa, Mbeya, and Njombe regions with growing operations in the north around Moshi. The Tanzania Market Access Lead is a senior role that defines and leads One Acre Fund Tanzania's market access strategy and commercial portfolio, deciding which value chains to prioritise, shaping commercial models, and building the partnerships needed to make them viable. Core responsibilities include developing multi-year strategies across priority value chains such as cashew and avocado, evaluating investment decisions based on commercial viability and farmer impact, and designing processing and aggregation models that balance profitability with farmer inclusion. The role manages partnership negotiations and performance with processors, exporters, and buyers while overseeing alignment between farmer-facing field operations and commercial requirements. Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, economics, agribusiness, agriculture, supply chain, or a related field, along with at least five years of experience in agribusiness or market access roles including leading teams and driving strategy to execution. Strong commercial instincts and numerical fluency are required, as candidates must be comfortable building financial models and making data-driven decisions. The ability to operate at multiple levels, from multi-year strategy to operational detail, is essential. Candidates should have practical understanding of value chain dynamics from farmer aggregation through to processing and export, and experience negotiating and managing external partners such as processors, exporters, and buyers while holding them accountable to agreed performance terms. Preferred start date is as soon as possible. The position is based in Tanzania with a two-year contract and includes health insurance, housing, and comprehensive benefits. The role is open only to citizens or permanent residents of Tanzania. Applications close on 05 August 2026 and are reviewed on a rolling basis until a hire is made.
