About this role

Educate! is seeking a Strategic Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Lead to coordinate MEL activities for the Leaders in Teaching (LIT) Coordination Platform in Tanzania, supporting four partner organizations to develop and communicate a shared impact story around secondary education reform in the country. This full-time fixed-term role, reporting to the Global Director of Research, Measurement & Evaluation, carries an expected duration of six months with the possibility of extension based on performance. The MEL Lead will work closely with Educate!

Tanzania Programme and MEL Teams, LIT partner MEL representatives, Mastercard Foundation teams, and external consultants and evaluators to strengthen alignment on a shared Theory of Change, harmonize indicators and methodologies, and coordinate reporting processes across the platform. Core responsibilities span four areas: MEL strategy and framework development, including leading refinement of the shared LIT Tanzania Theory of Change and developing a cross-partner MEL framework with shared indicators and reporting guidance (35%); partner coordination and stakeholder management, including leading quarterly MEL Working Group meetings and facilitating collaboration among organizations with varying MEL capacities (30%); reporting, learning and strategic insights, encompassing coordination of bi-annual shared reporting processes and synthesizing partner data into a cohesive collective impact narrative (20%); and MEL project management and special initiatives, including coordinating shared evaluations, baseline studies and learning agendas (15%). The ideal candidate holds eight or more years of experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, Research or related fields, with demonstrated experience designing MEL frameworks, theories of change, indicator systems and learning agendas. Experience facilitating collaboration across consortiums, partnerships or donor-funded initiatives is required, along with strong written communication skills and the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights.

Experience in education systems, youth development or workforce development is preferred, as is experience engaging government stakeholders. Educate!
