Intern, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

Jhpiego is hiring an M&E Intern for the BEAT Breast Cancer Project in Zanzibar, a full-time local employment opportunity based in Tanzania. The intern will support project monitoring and evidence-based decision-making, working alongside health facilities, Integrated Reproductive and Child Health programs, and District Health Management Teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting data collection, entry, cleaning, analysis, and reporting related to breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and patient navigation; assisting facilities with data quality and timely reporting; conducting data verification visits; helping providers use documentation tools; tracking confirmed breast cancer patients for continuity of care; and preparing project reports and presentations. The intern will also support digital health information systems such as ZanEMR, DHIS2, SharePoint, and Power BI, and perform other M&E tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Candidates must hold a medical degree (MD or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in biostatistics, public health, or M&E, and at least one year of experience in health program monitoring and evaluation. Awareness of digital data management tools, strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to travel to health facilities and outreach sites across Zanzibar, including Unguja and Pemba Islands, are required. Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience in health program implementation and evaluation, experience working with government and development partners, and familiarity with data quality assurance, data visualization, and performance monitoring in a public health setting.
