About this role
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) office in Tanzania is seeking enthusiastic and creative Online Volunteers to support its digital outreach and communication efforts. The initiative aims to increase the visibility of the valuable work being undertaken by the communication team and to strengthen the growth and uptake of the Online Volunteering service at the country level. By engaging a wider network of volunteers, the project seeks to raise public awareness, strengthen community engagement, and expand the reach of the UNV programme in Tanzania. Online Volunteers will promote corporate and local content on digital and social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
They will develop creative ideas and content such as posts, articles, graphics, and short videos to engage diverse local audiences and raise awareness of key messages and stories relevant to Tanzania. They will also engage with local organizations and communities to foster partnerships and increase campaign reach, and will support the organization and participation in local online events, including virtual discussions, webinars, and digital storytelling sessions. Monitoring engagement metrics and feedback from outreach activities is an additional responsibility. Required skills include strong communication and writing abilities, creativity, and a good understanding of social media platforms.
Candidates should have active accounts on at least three of the platforms mentioned. Desired skills include experience in content creation, graphic design, video editing, or project management. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Kiswahili is a strong asset. This United Nations Volunteers assignment is hosted by UNV in the United Republic of Tanzania.
Online Volunteers will report to the Regional Communication Assistant and will receive training, messaging guidelines, and visual assets to support them in their role. The assignment follows the UNV Online Volunteering model and is conducted remotely, with support and guidance provided remotely by the UNV communication team.
