Senior Technical Officer, TB Services

About this role

FHI 360 seeks a Senior Technical Officer for Tuberculosis to provide technical expertise for implementing and scaling comprehensive TB prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment under the EpiC Project in Tanzania. The post holder will support integration of TB and HIV services across Police and Prison health facilities and strengthen TB services in public health facilities to improve early case detection, diagnosis, timely treatment initiation and completion. Responsibilities include providing technical oversight for active case finding, TB preventive treatment, DR-TB care, TB infection prevention and control, mentoring facility teams, conducting clinical case reviews, monitoring program performance through data and cascade analysis, and supporting site-specific improvement plans. The officer collaborates with the Ministry of Health, NTLP, Police Medical Unit, Prisons Health and Nutrition Unit, PMO-RALG, regional and council health management teams, implementing partners and facility leadership, and reports to the Senior Technical Advisor for Clinical Services.

Candidates must hold a medical degree from a recognized institution, with at least six years of progressive experience in TB and TB/HIV programming, ideally in donor-funded public health programs, plus demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to government authorities, health management teams and facility staff. A master's in public health is an added advantage, and fluency in English and Kiswahili, strong analytical, communication, project management and stakeholder engagement skills, and Microsoft Office proficiency are required. Experience mentoring junior staff is required. FHI 360 is implementing the EpiC Project in Tanzania across public, Police and Prison health platforms to align services with national guidelines.

This full-time position is based in Dar es Salaam, with 10 to 25 percent domestic travel to councils and health facilities. FHI 360 offers a competitive benefits package and an annual basic salary range of TZS 68,000,000 to 90,000,000.
