About this role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is hiring a Budget and Programming Associate at the G6 level for its Country Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This 12-month fixed-term, full-time assignment provides specialized support for planning, monitoring and analysis of project financial performance to ensure optimal use of financial resources. The associate reviews budget plans, monitors and analyzes project financial performance, and recommends corrective actions in line with WFP financial policies. Duties include analyzing fund and grant balances, supporting pipeline management, entering budget plans and revisions into corporate systems, preparing reports, and providing inputs to the Country Office Resource Management Committee on the Country Portfolio Budget.

The post-holder also supports Global Commodity Management Facility supply lines, communicates with stakeholders on fund management, guides junior support staff, and applies emergency preparedness practices. The work includes maintaining accurate records and files and clarifying discrepancies with stakeholders to optimize use of funds. Candidates need completion of secondary school and a post-secondary certificate in a related field, plus at least six years of progressively responsible experience in the relevant business stream, including general administrative work. Fluency in the UN language in use at the duty station and, if different, the local language is required.

Desired experience includes assisting with budgets, resource plans, pipelines or supply chains, resolving budget/allotment issues in WFP systems, analyzing medium-complexity data, preparing operational budget reports, and handling large datasets.
