About this role
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a Human Resources Associate to join its Country Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This is a twelve-month Service Contract at Grade SC 6, reporting directly to the Head of HR. The role exists to provide comprehensive, client-focused HR services that align with WFP's humanitarian strategy and the operational needs of the Tanzania Country Office. The Associate will serve as the first point of contact for HR advisory services across the country office, providing technical guidance to managers and staff on the interpretation and application of HR rules covering entitlements, performance management, contracts, and staffing requirements.
In payroll processing, the role involves supporting the monthly payroll cycle by validating HR data, entitlements, and deductions, administering end-to-end payroll in line with UN regulations, and reconciling variances in coordination with Finance. The incumbent will ensure data integrity within HR systems such as Workday and maintain records for audit and management review. HR analytics and reporting form a significant component of the role, requiring the collection and interpretation of workforce data including diversity metrics, turnover, and contract modalities to produce dashboards and support strategic decision-making. The Associate will also coordinate end-to-end recruitment from vacancy announcements through to onboarding, deliver orientation programmes for new staff, and support employee wellness and engagement initiatives including psychosocial support and work-life balance programmes.
Further accountabilities include facilitating performance management cycles, coordinating learning needs assessments and training events, promoting diversity and inclusion in hiring practices, maintaining HRMIS data in systems such as Workday and SAP, supporting compliance audits, and acting as a change agent for new HR policies and internal communications. Candidates must hold a secondary school completion certificate with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area; a university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Industrial and Organisational Psychology is preferred.
