Project Officer

Plan International is seeking a Project Officer to support the Melitta Coffee Project in Tarime, Tanzania. This role reports directly to the Project Coordinator and is responsible for supporting comprehensive operational planning, logistical and administrative assistance throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. The organisation is an independent development and humanitarian agency that advances children’s rights and equality for girls, working in over 80 countries for more than 85 years. The Project Officer will maintain detailed oversight of all planned and live project activities, timelines, and milestones while supporting quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, and communications in line with donor agreements.
Key responsibilities include supporting the identification and engagement of input suppliers and private sector companies involved in the coffee value chain in Tarime, Mara. The role encompasses financial administration such as managing invoicing, expense reconciliation, and budget reporting, as well as project-level procurement planning and ensuring compliance with internal policies and donor regulations. Additional duties involve contributing to report drafting and research support, scheduling logistical arrangements for stakeholder events across five operational district councils, and maintaining digital knowledge management platforms and project documentation. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, agriculture economics, agriculture, entrepreneurship, business administration, commerce, or economics, combined with a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in an INGO environment.
Candidates must demonstrate experience coordinating integrated multi-sectoral projects, working with development partners and local government, engaging with the private sector, and collaborating with coffee farmers, AMCOS, WAMACU, and coffee regulatory bodies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and fluency in both English and Kiswahili are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with children and communities on child-related programs.
