About this role

WWF Tanzania is seeking a Project Executant for a critical conservation initiative focused on securing viable populations of the African elephant and African black rhino across Tanzania's priority landscapes. This fixed-term position sits within the Ruvuma Landscape Program and forms part of the organisation's ambitious "Securing the African Elephant and Black Rhino in Tanzania" project, which runs from FY25 to FY27 and supports the broader FY26-30 Tanzania Country Strategic Plan. The role is field-based and responsible for implementing and coordinating project activities in the Ruvuma, Water Towers, and SOKNOT (Southern Kenya-Northern Tanzania) transboundary landscapes. The incumbent will design and conduct wildlife surveys, camera trapping, drone-based surveillance, and spotlight surveys while monitoring wildlife behaviours within designated Ranger Outposts.

The Project Executant will implement both elephant and rhino components, working with project partners to collect data and contribute to national conservation strategies aimed at combating poaching and illegal wildlife trade. The position requires preparing annual work plans and budgets, coordinating closely with counterparts in the SOKNOT and Water Towers landscapes for integrated delivery across all three sites, and building partnerships with stakeholders engaged in wildlife conservation for impactful outcomes at scale. The incumbent will support policy advocacy and collaborative management strategies to address human-elephant conflict and strengthen habitat connectivity. They will develop and maintain species databases, implement quality assurance plans to ensure data meets WWF standards, and represent WWF at national, regional, and global policy platforms.

The position is full time, based at WWF's Masasi office in the Ruvuma region, and reports to the Ruvuma Landscape Program Coordinator. Applications close on 30 January 2027.
