, the largest youth skills service provider in East Africa, is seeking a Product Owner to join their Technology team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Founded with the mission to prepare youth across Africa to learn, earn, and thrive, Educate! introduces employment-focused subjects in secondary schools and delivers livelihood boot camps for out-of-school youth, with a particular focus on marginalized rural girls and young women. The organisation has impacted more than 500,000 youth across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and has been recognised with the 2018 Klaus J.

Jacobs Prize and the 2015 WISE Award. The Product Owner will be instrumental in translating strategic business initiatives into technology products, working closely with the product, delivery, and Monitoring and Evaluation teams to understand requirements, develop product roadmaps, and drive the entire technology product development cycle from concept to delivery. Core responsibilities span requirements gathering, where the Product Owner will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define personas, user journeys, and functional specifications, through to user-focused product design that builds processes for continuously gathering and addressing usability issues. The role also encompasses market research and user testing, including analysing quantitative data and A/B tests to drive improvements in user experience, as well as project management duties such as building actionable roadmaps, prioritising the product backlog, planning releases, and managing developers or external consultants.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technology field, with a minimum of three years of experience building web and mobile applications with offline capabilities. Strong analytical skills using both qualitative and quantitative data, experience creating product roadmaps and user journey maps, and proficiency with backlog grooming and prioritisation are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience working with programme delivery platforms such as USSD, SMS, and WhatsApp, basic knowledge of MySQL or Postgres databases, JIRA, and Figma.
