About this role

The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) invites applications from citizens of African Union Member States for the position of Procurement Officer. The role is based in Midrand, South Africa, within the Project Implementation Unit and operates under the supervision of the Senior Procurement Officer. The Procurement Officer will provide comprehensive project procurement support by managing the entire procurement and tendering process from the initial definition of requirements through to the final supply of goods, services, consultancy, and works. In addition, the post-holder will oversee contract management through to full liquidation and closure of all procurements, ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently, transparently, and in full compliance with World Bank Procurement Regulations and African Union policies and procedures.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Law, Business Administration, Commerce, or Finance, combined with five years of relevant experience in public procurement, supply chain management, and sub-grants within public sector institutions or international organisations. Alternatively, a Master's degree in one of these fields with a minimum of two years of progressive experience will be considered. Crucially, full MCIPS Professional certification from CIPS UK or an equivalent professional body in public procurement is a mandatory requirement for both pathways. Preferred experience includes demonstrated familiarity with World Bank Procurement Regulations and the STEP system, as well as proven ability to manage a project procurement portfolio exceeding US$1 million.
