Finance Assistant
About this role
AUDA-NEPAD, the African Union Development Agency, is recruiting a Finance Assistant to support its project implementation unit. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Finance Officer-Grants and provide financial support to ensure successful project implementation across the organisation's continental programmes aligned with Africa's Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting treasury functions, and preparing financial reports in compliance with international accounting standards. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions through SAP or similar ERP systems, and ensuring proper documentation for grant management and development partner-funded projects.
The incumbent will prepare and present financial information clearly, support budget monitoring, and contribute to the overall financial health of the project implementation unit while adhering to high ethical and accountability standards. Candidates must hold a minimum college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Commerce, or Business Management, accompanied by at least five years of progressive experience in finance or accounting functions within public sector, multilateral, international, or non-governmental organisations. Essential skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with ERP systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, high attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Experience in grant management and working with development partner financing is highly desirable. The position is based in Midrand, South Africa, on a full-time basis. 44 per annum, and a gratuity equivalent to 15% of gross salary, in accordance with African Union rules for internationally recruited staff.
