Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Volunteer

About this role

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is seeking a volunteer to support UNHCR Tanzania in identifying new private sector, philanthropic, and development partnership opportunities through research, stakeholder mapping, and strategic analysis. The volunteer will conduct a funding landscape review, develop a prospect database, and provide recommendations on organisations that UNHCR Tanzania could engage to support refugees and host communities. Core responsibilities include conducting desk research on companies, foundations, development actors, industry associations, impact investors, and philanthropic organisations operating in Tanzania. The volunteer will identify organisations whose priorities align with UNHCR Tanzania's strategic objectives, including protection, health, education, WASH, climate resilience, access to energy, durable solutions, and support to refugee-hosting communities.

The volunteer will develop a database of prospective partners including key contacts, funding priorities, geographic focus, ongoing initiatives, and potential entry points for engagement. Additional tasks include researching corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and philanthropic programmes of potential partners, reviewing similar partnerships established by UN agencies, NGOs, and development organisations in Tanzania and the region, preparing concise partner profiles and briefing notes on high-potential prospects, and recommending priority organisations for engagement with tailored approaches for outreach and collaboration. The expected deliverables include a Funding Landscape Review of up to 10 pages, a Prospect Database, Stakeholder Mapping, a Priority Prospect List of 20 to 30 organisations, Partner Profiles, Engagement Recommendations, and an Opportunities Calendar covering the next 12 months. Required qualifications include experience in research and analysis, partnerships and stakeholder engagement, fundraising or business development, international development or humanitarian affairs, excellent English drafting skills, and proficiency in Excel and desk research tools.
