Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer

SOS Children's Villages, National Association Tanzania and Zanzibar, is recruiting a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer for its Mwanza duty station under a limited full-time contract. The position reports to the Program Manager, with a dotted line to the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning at the national office. The officer will implement SOS Children's Villages Tanzania M&E strategy, policy and practices and support all M&E initiatives for assigned grants and projects. Core responsibilities include monitoring data quality, tracking progress against results, and contributing to staff capacity building.

The officer will help keep Result Based Management and the programme database active by supporting valid and reliable data entry, reviewing data quality, strengthening collection methods and ensuring existing data can serve as a baseline. Regular visits to the field support M&E implementation and help identify where adaptations are needed. Duties also include designing monitoring and evaluation tools and frameworks, analysing data, assisting with M&E reports, guiding project staff on documentation and knowledge capture, and participating in project evaluations. The officer is expected to integrate child rights M&E principles and SOS Children's Villages principles of family based care and family strengthening, and to document lessons learnt and best practices for staff, partners and stakeholders.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in project management, statistics, economics, development studies or a related field and have at least three years of solid M&E experience in a non-governmental organisation. Strong English communication, presentation, persuasion and negotiation skills, as well as proficiency in MS Excel and statistical database software, are required.
