About this role

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is hiring a Lake Tanganyika Biodiversity Conservation Project Coordinator to coordinate the LaTaBioCoN consortium, based in Tabora, Tanzania. Reporting to the Lake Tanganyika Basin Director, the coordinator aligns implementation with strategy, workplans, budgets, and timelines across TNC teams and partners. The coordinator translates consortium priorities into workplans with clear activities, milestones, timelines, owners, and deliverables. They keep workplans, budgets, spending plans, procurement actions, and reporting requirements aligned across TNC teams and partners.

They maintain dashboards that analyse progress against milestones, deadlines, dependencies, and donor commitments. The role convenes planning, documents decisions, monitors follow-up, and ensures clarity across conservation, finance, operations, grants, MEL, and partnership teams. The coordinator prepares implementation and expenditure reports, drives adaptive management, maintains a risk register, and prepares coordination tools. Required qualifications include a BA/BS degree in project management, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, international development, or a related field, with at least five years of relevant project coordination or programme implementation experience.

Candidates must have experience managing complex projects, coordinating cross-functional teams or consortium members without direct line authority, developing partnerships with non-profit, community, or government partners, and negotiating complex agreements. English fluency, administration skills, and proven ability to maintain trackers and coordination systems are essential. A driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program are required. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in project management, wildlife management, biodiversity conservation, or a relevant natural resources management discipline, five to seven years coordinating donor-funded, multi-partner, or multi-country conservation programmes, and direct experience in landscape or transboundary strategy development.

Senior-level stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and knowledge of biodiversity information systems are advantageous.
