M&E Intern, BEAT Breast Cancer Project

About this role

Jhpiego is hiring a medical doctor with experience in biostatistics, public health, and monitoring and evaluation to serve as an M&E Intern for the BEAT Breast Cancer Project in Zanzibar. The intern will support project monitoring and data activities, contributing to evidence-based decision-making and the successful implementation of breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and patient navigation services. Responsibilities include data collection, entry, cleaning, analysis, and reporting; assisting health facilities, Integrated Reproductive and Child Health units, and District Health Management Teams with data quality and timely reporting; conducting data verification visits and routine monitoring; supporting healthcare providers in documentation and use of data tools; tracking confirmed breast cancer patients to support continuity of care; preparing project reports, presentations, and data summaries; and maintaining digital health information systems and databases.

Required qualifications are a medical degree or equivalent with demonstrated experience in biostatistics, public health, or M at least one year of experience in health program monitoring and evaluation; familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Excel, ZanEMR, SharePoint, DHIS2, and Power BI; strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; attention to detail; and willingness to travel within Zanzibar, including Unguja and Pemba. Hands-on experience in health program implementation is preferred, and the posting highlights mentorship from experienced professionals, skill development in data analysis and reporting, exposure to digital health information systems, and opportunities for field visits and stakeholder coordination.
