HR Assistant
About this role
WFP is seeking an HR Assistant to support the accurate implementation of HR policies and procedures and facilitate the effective functioning of a client-focused and strategy-oriented HR services function at its Dar es Salaam country office in Tanzania. The role involves providing assistance on general HR queries and follow-up actions to ensure consistent, high-quality HR service delivery, while liaising with internal units on matters including payroll and contracts to enable timely HR services. The HR Assistant will extract and compile HR data on recruitment and selection, contractual conditions, entitlements, performance, and training requirements to support analysis and reporting needs, and maintain confidential personnel records, HR databases, and archives in compliance with established standards.
Additional responsibilities include drafting HR documentation such as employment contracts, transfer letters, and training-related documents, monitoring deadlines for contract expirations and performance reviews, and supporting staff deployment and crisis response through the preparation of administrative reports. Candidates must have completed secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable, and must demonstrate fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language used at the duty station and the local language. Desired experience includes managing HR policies and procedures in line with WFP standards, conducting payroll administration and recruitment activities, providing guidance to junior staff, and briefing new recruits on onboarding processes.
