Grants & Fundraising Coordinator Intern

WaterAid

About this role

WaterAid Tanzania is hiring a Grants and Fundraising Coordinator Intern to support donor engagement, proposal development and grant management from its Dar es Salaam office. The intern will work with WaterAid Tanzania staff to strengthen resource mobilisation and drive sustainable change. Responsibilities include drafting concept notes and proposals, organising meetings, taking minutes, preparing reports, and supporting administrative and logistics duties such as raising partner financial requests, organising workshops and preparing correspondence. The post holder will track reporting timelines for secured restricted grants, update schedules, support fundraising travel by drafting terms of reference and requesting advances, and collaborate with other teams on business development initiatives.

Additional duties may be assigned by the Head of Business Development, and the intern must champion WaterAid's commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in social science, development studies, business administration, economics or a related discipline, with confidence and fluency in conversations with donors, consortium leads and external forums, plus strong presentation and communication skills. Fundraising experience in the NGO sector is an advantage but not essential. Desirable attributes include excellent verbal and written communication, Microsoft Office competency, willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment, strong research and report writing skills, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence across teams.

WaterAid is a global federation working toward clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for everyone, everywhere by 2030. WaterAid Tanzania advances WASH access with communities and partners to support national sustainable development priorities. This is a fixed-term internship of 40 hours per week based in Dar es Salaam, with possible travel to field offices. A daily stipend covers transport and lunch on workdays, and one day off is granted per month worked.

Applications close at 18:00 Tanzania time on 11 September 2026; upload a CV and cover letter through WaterAid's application portal.
