About this role

Compassion International is seeking a Grants Financial Specialist II to support U.S. Government grant acquisition and financial management for donor-funded programs across the Africa region. This role operates as a 1-year fixed-term contract with potential for renewal, based remotely within an eligible African country including Tanzania, with up to 10% travel expected. The specialist will develop budgets and budget justifications for U.S.

Government grants and other institutional donors, manage financial oversight throughout the grant lifecycle from proposal development through closeout, and prepare donor-compliant financial reports while conducting budget variance analysis. Responsibilities include monitoring expenditures and financial performance, supporting donor and procurement audits including Single Audits, strengthening financial controls and ensuring compliance with donor regulations, and collaborating across finance, program, legal, compliance, and field teams in multiple countries. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience in grants finance, donor compliance, or financial management. Preference goes to those with experience in donor-funded grants within an NGO or international development environment, demonstrated experience developing budgets and narratives for U.S.

Government grants, and strong working knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) with experience working with UN and other institutional donors. Additional preferred qualifications include experience supporting or managing Single Audits for U.S. Government-funded programs, along with strong budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analytical skills. Compassion International is a Christian child development organization that works to release children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty.
