Resource Development & Management Lead, Africa

About this role

VisionFund, World Vision's microfinance subsidiary, is seeking a Resource Development and Management Lead for Africa to drive funding acquisition and grant management across the region. The position sits within the Business Development Department and supports VisionFund's network of microfinance institutions operating in 28 countries to enable families in hard-to-reach rural communities to build sustainable livelihoods. The role involves developing and managing a pipeline of funding opportunities from institutional donors, coordinating proposal development processes, and ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements. The post-holder will provide leadership and capacity building to field-based MFI staff on grant acquisition, project management, and donor engagement, contributing to VisionFund's mission of ending intergenerational poverty through microfinance.

Core responsibilities span the full grant lifecycle, from researching and assessing funding organisations to developing opportunity pipelines aligned with strategic funding priorities. The role manages the RFP response process end-to-end, including opportunity vetting with regional leadership, setting up proposal development teams, and ensuring timely submission of technically compliant applications. The post-holder will monitor project compliance and implementation, review contracts, manage financial reporting obligations, and build the capacity of MFIs for funded project delivery. Relationship management is central to the role, requiring the post-holder to develop and maintain partnerships with institutional funders, World Vision field and regional offices, and implementing partners, while also networking at sector forums to identify new funding opportunities.

The ideal candidate holds a university degree in international development, marketing, economics, or a related field with at least 10 years of experience in grant acquisition, fundraising, or corporate management within a development context. Fluency in English is required and proficiency in French is desirable. A master's degree in a relevant field or a professional qualification in grants or accounting is preferred. The role demands experience in the microfinance or financial inclusion sector, strong analytical and persuasive writing skills, cross-cultural sensitivity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities across complex stakeholder relationships.
