Finance Manager
About this role
Educate!, an award-winning non-profit social enterprise focused on youth employment across East Africa, is seeking a Finance Manager to lead its finance function in Tanzania. The post holder will act as the country finance lead, ensuring sound accounting and financial management systems, controls and procedures are in place. Reporting to the Head of Finance and supervising a team of three, the manager will provide day-to-day financial leadership, coach and develop team members, and serve as a business partner to implementation, operations and budget managers. Core responsibilities cover financial management and oversight, reporting, control, accounting, and budget management.
The manager will oversee the Finance Coordinator and Finance Officers, prepare monthly management reports, coordinate audits and tax returns, process transactions accurately in QuickBooks, perform month-end closing, support periodic budgets, share budget variance analysis reports, and ensure compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority and NGO regulatory requirements. The role also involves risk identification, internal controls strengthening, and liaison with the Group Finance team. Candidates need a BSc in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce, CPA (T) (NBAA) membership in good standing, and at least 3 to 5 years of finance and accounting experience in a non-profit environment, including audit coordination, budget development, payroll and general ledger work. The role also requires 3 to 5 years of managerial experience leading finance teams.
Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks and Google Drive tools is essential. Desired attributes include strong people relations, attention to detail, integrity, strategic thinking, problem solving and a collaborative data-oriented approach.
