Food Technologist, Complementary Foods (Consultant)

About this Role
UNICEF Tanzania is seeking a national individual consultant to provide technical expertise in the development, reformulation, and scale-up of nutritious complementary foods for children aged 6–23 months, working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and other key stakeholders. The consultant will support local producers and government institutions to ensure products are affordable, safe, nutritionally adequate, and compliant with national and international standards. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Food Science and Technology or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in food product development and fortified foods using locally available ingredients. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with local food producers, SMEs, cooperatives, and private sector actors in Tanzania, with knowledge of infant and young child nutrition and complementary feeding practices. This 12-month consultancy requires 50% office-based work in Dar es Salaam and 50% remote engagement with travel.
