Digital Health & Analytics Advisor
About this role
Jhpiego is recruiting a Digital Health and Analytics Advisor to lead digital health and monitoring systems work on the AFGHS-Jhpiego project, a U.S. Department of State funded initiative supporting maternal, newborn and child health and malaria services across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. The post is based in Dar es Salaam and reports to the MEL Director. The advisor provides technical leadership for the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of digital health platforms.
Day to day this means supporting DHIS2 configuration and routine operation, deploying and troubleshooting Android based mHealth tools, managing upgrades, and handling data migration and interoperability between project tools and national systems such as eIDSR and UCS. The role also covers data quality assurance, user access controls, documentation, and automation of extraction, aggregation and reporting workflows, alongside building Power BI dashboards and producing GIS maps and spatial analyses that track service coverage, facility performance and disease burden. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, health informatics or a related field, with a master's preferred, plus at least seven to eight years of progressively responsible experience. Strong Python, JavaScript and SQL programming, Java/J2EE development, API integration, relational databases, Android APK development and REST, SOAP and JSON web services are required, with demonstrated GIS integration experience and knowledge of Tanzanian HMIS and DHIS2 reporting workflows.
Preferred attributes include English facilitation and writing skills, Kiswahili fluency, and experience building capacity of users and institutions. Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University affiliate, works closely with the Ministries of Health in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar and with national malaria programmes, and the role explicitly prioritises transferring digital system ownership to government. It is a full time local position with travel of up to 20 to 25 percent. Jhpiego offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package.
Applicants submit a cover letter, resume and references through www.jhpiego.org/careers by 23 October 2026.
