Development Manager
About this role
CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education), an award-winning organization supporting girls in rural Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to go to school and become leaders, is hiring a Development Manager for CAMFED USA, a member of the global CAMFED consortium. The full-time, permanent role is remote in the US Eastern Time Zone, working 37.5 hours per week, and reports to the Head of Grants, USA. Candidates must have US work authorization; CAMFED does not sponsor visas. The post sits on CAMFED USA’s two-person Development Operations team, which manages a growing portfolio of over $25 million in grants.
Working across functions and offices, the Development Manager prepares donor reports, progress updates, proposals, and other donor communications for strategic US funders; quality-checks team outputs; and coordinates global input. They review grants with CAMFED offices in Africa so implementation reflects donor intent and compliance requirements, and supports budget management and tracking. The post-holder will also provide quality assurance on donor-facing outputs from other team members and will support optimal use of grant funds to maximize impact for CAMFED's clients and partner communities. The role includes maintaining records in Salesforce, SharePoint, and Google Drive, sharing learning from CAMFED’s programmes, and line-managing, mentoring, and coaching colleagues to help create a motivated, resilient, psychologically safe team.
Required qualifications include relevant experience in international development, including managing complex multi-country grants, strong donor-focused writing, data analysis comfort, project management, staff coaching, and commitment to CAMFED’s mission and gender equity.
