Assistant Consultant, Poverty and Social Protection

Oxford Policy Management is hiring an Assistant Consultant on a permanent basis for its Poverty and Social Protection team. The position may be based in New Delhi, Islamabad, or Dar es Salaam. OPM is an international development consultancy supporting sustainable policy change in low- and middle-income countries. The Assistant Consultant will provide defined technical inputs to projects, including literature reviews, interviews and data analysis.

The post-holder will manage projects, owning budgets and workplans while coordinating team members, and will lead small bids and commercial tenders. Additional work includes supporting OPM's PSP technical hubs, communications and capability statements, networks, and strategic decisions under the direction of the Senior Technical Lead. Clients include UNICEF, UNHCR, ILO, WFP, BMZ and FCDO. Candidates need at least a bachelor's degree, a developing interest in poverty and social protection, project management experience, and strong client and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience delivering projects for UN agencies, GIZ, development banks, FCDO, European donors, or foundations is expected, as is excellent written and spoken English. Desirable experience includes adaptive, inclusive or digital social protection, social protection financing, and rapid-response UN bids. The ideal candidate is flexible and self-motivated. OPM's current work spans national social protection systems, digital systems, shock-responsive social protection, gender equality and social inclusion, and capacity building, with growing collaboration across climate policy, public finance and health.

The role is permanent, full-time and hybrid, reporting to the Senior Technical Lead, with no visa sponsorship offered; candidates must already have the right to work in India, Pakistan or Tanzania.
