MEAL Project Lead

About this role

Action Against Hunger is seeking a MEAL Project Lead for its recently awarded community-led adolescent health and nutrition programme, funded by the World Bank GFF x CIVIC Platform and managed by its Tanzania office. This grant-funded, full-time position is expected to continue through June 2028 and sits within Pillar II of the platform, which focuses on scaling community-led solutions for adolescent health and nutrition through civil society and youth-led organisations. The post-holder reports to the Project Director and supervises two staff members: the Knowledge Management Officer and the MEL Coordinator. The lead is responsible for designing, managing, and overseeing a comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan and indicator framework aligned with donor requirements and GFF x CIVIC goals.

This includes strengthening MEL systems and digital tools through participatory processes to ensure timely, reliable data on adolescent health, nutrition, and resilience outcomes, and supporting studies, research, and special evaluations with consortium partners. The role also leads the programme's learning agenda, facilitates reflection sessions with the knowledge management partner, produces dashboards and reports, and works with technical advisors to integrate MEL across activities. Additional duties include building MEL capacity among project staff and civil society partners, supporting quantitative and qualitative data analysis, survey design, sampling, and data quality assurance, and participating in global and regional learning forums and policy discussions. The role also ensures accountability mechanisms and feedback loops that strengthen programme transparency and responsiveness.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree or higher in social science, public health, statistics, research, or a related field, plus seven to ten years of experience designing, managing, or implementing health and development monitoring systems, data quality assurance, database management, and data analysis and use.
