World Vision

About this role

World Vision is a global humanitarian organization with 75 years of experience, employing over 31,000 staff across nearly 100 countries. Guided by its Christian faith, the organization serves the most vulnerable children and families experiencing poverty and hardship. World Vision Tanzania is seeking a qualified Agriculture Extension Facilitator to support kitchen garden and agricultural initiatives within refugee camp communities in Kigoma. The role is anchored in community education and sensitization, with the facilitator responsible for raising awareness about contextualized kitchen garden practices and natural resources management plans among refugee populations.

Approximately 35% of the role involves direct community sensitization, while a further 25% is dedicated to training and hands-on work with communities on kitchen garden management in the refugee camp context. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the availability and proper application of farm inputs, conducting supportive home visits to kitchen garden farms to build community knowledge and skills, and facilitating the preparation of inorganic manure for agricultural use. The facilitator is also expected to compile and share weekly and monthly reports to ensure timely and accurate programme reporting. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Agricultural Extension, Horticulture, Crop Production, or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized institution and brings direct experience working in humanitarian operations and refugee programming.

Strong communication and self-expression skills are highly desirable. This is a full-time, local fixed-term position based in Kigoma, Tanzania, requiring regular travel to field locations within the refugee camp communities. World Vision requires all staff to observe conduct compatible with Christian principles and participate in office devotions and prayer gatherings as part of its organizational culture. The application deadline is 15 July 2026, and only local applicants will be considered.
