About this role

WeWorld is an international NGO that has been working in Tanzania since 2010, implementing school-centered programmes across Dar es Salaam, Temeke, Kinondoni, and Ludewa district, reaching approximately 25,000 beneficiaries, mainly children, adolescents, parents, and school personnel. The organisation adopts a multisectoral approach spanning education, health, nutrition, protection, and WASH, and is an active member of TENMET, the Tanzania Education Network. WeWorld also supports the Bunju Multipurpose Centre for vulnerable children and youth, and is currently implementing several EU co-financed projects including urban eco-resilience initiatives in Zanzibar, a cross-border peacebuilding programme across Kenya, Mozambique, and Tanzania, and a multi-country primary education retention programme with Kenya.

The Country Representative directs WeWorld programmes in Tanzania at the country level, ensuring quality of activity from development through execution, including budget management and Human Resources Management of both international and national staff. The role involves identifying programming opportunities and areas where the organisation can demonstrate its relevance, developing stakeholder relationships, and representing WeWorld to donors, ministries, local government authorities, and local partners, as well as being responsible for security management in the country. Core duties include ensuring legal compliance for NGOs operating in Tanzania, supervising the child sponsorship programme, leading the development and implementation of the country strategic plan, overseeing grants acquisition and portfolio management, guiding project managers on quality, planning, monitoring, and evaluation, overseeing financial sustainability and procurement, and assisting headquarters with public and donor relations.

On representation, the role entails representing WeWorld in national and international fora, engaging with government representatives, donors, civil society organisations, and communities, building strategic partnerships, and promoting the organisation's identity and capacity to all stakeholders. The position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, reports to the Head of Regional Unit, and the contract is designated as a family duty station. Applications close on 24 July 2026.
