Technical Lead, RMNCAH

Americares

About this role

Americares Foundation Tanzania is seeking a Technical Lead for RMNCAH to provide strategic and technical leadership for an integrated maternal health, family planning, obstetric fistula, and mental health and psychosocial support project implemented from the Mwanza country office. The Technical Lead will guide the design, implementation, and quality assurance of integrated RMNCAH interventions across facility and community platforms, ensuring alignment with national policies, quality-of-care standards, and the latest evidence. Core responsibilities include developing project work plans, clinical protocols, and program guidelines while overseeing the integration of obstetric fistula services and perinatal mental health within the broader maternal and newborn health continuum. The Technical Lead will supervise health systems strengthening and quality improvement activities, including facility readiness assessments, clinical audits, maternal death root cause analyses, and the implementation of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response.

Capacity building for health care providers across all technical areas will be delivered through hub-and-spoke training models, on-the-job mentorship, and clinical attachments. The role involves close collaboration with regional and council health management teams, referral hospitals including Bugando Medical Centre, sub-granted civil society organizations, and community structures to strengthen referral pathways and improve demand for quality services. Americares is a health-focused relief and development organization that reaches 85 countries annually with life-changing health programs, medicine, medical supplies, and emergency aid. The position is based in Mwanza, Tanzania, on a full-time assignment with regular travel to program sites.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in public health or a related field; clinical experience in obstetrics, midwifery, or nursing is an advantage. A minimum of five years of progressive experience in reproductive health programming and familiarity with donor-funded programming, particularly US government mechanisms, are required. Americares offers a competitive benefits package including health and life insurance, pension contributions, communication allowance, transport and housing allowance, and twenty-one days of annual leave.
