Senior Associate, Programs

Evidence Action

About this role

The Senior Program Associate at Evidence Action owns small-to-medium workstreams within the Deworm the World Initiative in Tanzania, working under high-level instructions from the Programme Manager. The role translates government and organisational priorities into concrete, actionable plans for Mass Drug Administration, Coverage Evaluation Surveys, supply chain management, reporting, and capacity building. The Associate provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and PMO-RALG, helping government partners and internal teams understand programme data and improving tactical planning to ensure successful implementation. Core responsibilities include coordinating deworming activities across target councils, preparing and submitting the Joint Application for Procurement and Joint Request for Selected Medicines, monitoring drug delivery to health facilities, leading pre-MDA planning and training cascades, conducting supportive supervision visits, and contributing to post-MDA reporting and lessons-learned documentation.

The role requires critical engagement with deworming data and field realities, proactively identifying operational risks and recommending improvements based on observed gaps. The Associate also identifies opportunities to apply AI tools such as predictive analytics for drug forecasting, natural language processing for survey data, and automated data quality checks to improve programme efficiency. Evidence Action delivers data-driven interventions across 9 countries and has reached over 500 million people globally. The Deworm the World programme in Tanzania, launched in late 2025, works within existing government systems to combat schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths, reaching over 10 million Tanzanian children at risk.

The position is based full time in Dodoma, Tanzania, with travel to field sites required, and reports to the Programme Manager. Candidates should have a background in public health, international development, or a related field, with experience coordinating programmes with government counterparts. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently are essential. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis.
