Tanzania Tree Specialist

One Acre Fund

About this role

One Acre Fund is recruiting an operational leader for its tree marketing and distribution work in Tanzania, based in Njombe or Mbeya. The post holder will lead marketing, farmer enrollment, and seedling distribution strategies across designated districts, direct field operations across 100 to 150 sites, and manage species selection, distribution pipelines, and post-distribution survival tracking. They will directly manage and mentor 6 to 10 Tree Supervisors, set performance targets, and provide training on agroforestry practices, behavioral change techniques, and customer service. The role also includes developing farmer training materials on tree management and long-term care, and coordinating with local government, cross-functional teams, and external partners to maintain program alignment and support integration.

Candidates need at least two years of relevant experience in field operations, program marketing, product adoption, sales, or community behavior change, plus demonstrated leadership of field-based teams and strong communication skills. A degree or equivalent training in agroforestry, agriculture, marketing, business administration, development studies, or a related field is required, along with a solid understanding of agroforestry practices, tree management, seedling pipelines, or agricultural extension. One Acre Fund was founded in 2006 and equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers across nine countries with farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, and agronomic training. Its Tanzania program, established in 2013, supports more than 100,000 farmers and is headquartered in Iringa, with smaller offices in Mbeya, Njombe, and Moshi.

The organization invests in staff development through weekly manager check-ins, mentorship, regular feedback, and six-month career reviews. This is a one-year fixed-term, full-time position open only to Tanzanian citizens or permanent residents. The preferred start date is as soon as possible, and the package includes health insurance and paid time off. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and should be submitted through the One Acre Fund careers portal by 20 November 2026.
