FHI 360 is recruiting a Senior Technical Officer for Supply Chain and Customs Clearance to be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The post-holder provides strategic leadership and end-to-end oversight of the importation, regulatory compliance, customs clearance, logistics, and final delivery of donor-funded health commodities throughout the country. Day to day, the officer leads importation and clearance processes, secures tax and duty exemptions, import permits, waivers, and product registrations, and validates shipping and customs documentation including requisition orders, Incoterms, quantities, shelf life, and modes of transport. The role monitors shipment status against requested and estimated delivery dates, tracks waiver approvals, lead times, and delivery performance, and identifies risks such as delays, demurrage charges, storage costs, inventory shortages, damages, and expiries.

The officer coordinates cold-chain compliant handling and transport of temperature-sensitive commodities, prepares periodic supply chain reports and dashboards for donors and government stakeholders, and represents FHI 360 in supply chain coordination forums and technical working groups. The position supervises personnel responsible for logistics operations and shipment coordination and reports to the Senior Technical Advisor for System Strengthening Demand Planning. A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, procurement, logistics, public health, or a related field is required, and a master's degree in a related discipline is preferred. Candidates need at least eight years of progressively responsible experience in health logistics, supply chain management, importation, customs clearance, procurement, or distribution of health commodities, ideally within USG, PEPFAR, Global Fund, or other donor-funded programmes.

Familiarity with Tanzanian importation procedures, customs clearance, tax and duty exemptions, and regulatory requirements is essential, along with strong data analysis and stakeholder negotiation skills. This is a full time position requiring travel of 10 to 25 percent within Tanzania for clearance, verification, and delivery purposes. The expected annual basic salary range is TZS 68,000,000 to 90,000,000, and FHI 360 offers a competitive benefits package. Applications close on 16 October 2026.
