Senior Regional Technical Officer, Supply Chain

About this role

Based in Mtwara, Tanzania, the Senior Regional Technical Officer, Supply Chain, is a full-time FHI 360 position supporting the EpiC project. The post-holder provides technical leadership, mentorship and systems support to strengthen supply chain management, pharmaceutical services and data use. Acting as a bridge among the Medical Stores Department, Zanzibar's Central Medical Stores, regional and council health management teams, logistics services teams, health facilities and implementing partners, the officer ensures life-saving commodities are managed, monitored and accounted for using Ministry of Health-approved tools. Duties include providing commodities management expertise at regional, council and facility levels; supporting bottom-up quantification and integration into national supply and procurement plans; monitoring stock status to prevent stock-outs, minimise expiries and reduce overstocks; and strengthening use of eLMIS, DHIS2, GoTHOMIS and related platforms for accurate, timely reporting.

The officer mentors frontline staff, pharmacists, laboratory technologists and clinicians on stock management, ordering, reporting, redistribution, rational use of medicines and pharmacovigilance. The role also involves facilitating data review platforms, promoting dashboards, supporting root-cause analysis, and building capacity per Ministry of Health and PORALG strategies. Candidates must hold a degree in pharmacy, supply chain management, public health or a related field, with a master's preferred, and have at least eight years of experience in life-saving commodities supply chain management, pharmaceutical management or health systems strengthening. Demonstrated expertise with e-LMIS, CTC2 database, DHIS2 pharmacy modules, BUQ and GoTHOMIS is required, alongside experience in rational use of medicines and pharmacovigilance.

Experience with the Ministry of Health, USG-funded and other donor-funded health programmes is essential. The role reports to the Regional Manager and Senior Technical Advisor, Supply Chain Specialist, and supervises junior staff. Domestic travel is 10 to 25 percent. FHI 360 offers a competitive benefits package and annual basic salary of TZS 68,000,000 to 90,000,000.
