Public Health
Senior Consultant
About this role
Management Sciences for Health is recruiting a part-time Senior Consultant to support Azura Sankofa Advisory, its lean global health advisory practice, as it builds its pipeline and prepares for first funded engagements. ASA helps governments strengthen and sustainably finance health systems, working in support of government leadership rather than as a substitute. The consultant takes direction from the Managing Director, who retains accountability for strategy, clients and final decisions. The work centres on business development: helping build and convert a pipeline of government, donor and foundation opportunities, from qualification and capture planning through submission.
The consultant leads country-owned concept notes and proposals, translating discussions with governments and partners into technical offers and drawing on expertise from ASA and across MSH. They provide senior technical advice on government-led reform, help strengthen the consultant roster and staffing readiness, and support delivery oversight once engagements begin, including technical inception, quality review of key deliverables, and lessons capture. They also support the Managing Director on delivery planning and client engagement. Candidates need at least 10 years' experience in global health, health financing, public financial management, governance, institutional strengthening or advisory services, including senior technical experience.
A strong record of winning and delivering donor- and government-funded work and writing successful proposals, concept notes and investment cases is required. Technical depth is essential in one or more ASA core areas, including health financing, donor transition, governance or health-systems strengthening. Experience across East and West Africa, credibility with senior officials and funders, and experience building consultant rosters are also required. Excellent English is essential; additional languages are desirable.
The consultancy is remote with travel as required, initially for six months and renewable subject to need and funding. Daily rate and level of effort are agreed against the consultant band; this is an independent consultancy, not employment. Apply through MSH's recruitment process; no closing date is stated.
