Public Health
Regional Technical Officer, Community Engagement, HIV
About this role
FHI 360 is recruiting a Regional Technical Officer for Community Engagement on its HIV programme in Mtwara, Tanzania, to provide technical and programmatic oversight for community and facility-based interventions that strengthen linkage to care, antiretroviral treatment initiation, treatment continuity, and re-engagement of adults, children and adolescents. The post-holder supports evidence-based strategies that improve ART linkage, retention and re-engagement, and contributes to tools and standard operating procedures underpinning community-based HIV service delivery. The officer helps roll out strategic communication packages that create demand for HIV prevention, testing, TB and STI services and treatment adherence. Working with regional and district HIV service coordinators, community health workers and facility care and treatment teams, the role ensures referrals, client follow-up and case management follow national guidelines, and mentors community health workers and civil society organisations.
The officer also analyses ART retention and performance data and prepares quarterly and annual reports. A bachelor's degree in social sciences, public health, international development, communication, social work or a related field is required, along with at least four years of progressively responsible experience in community-based health programming, including technical leadership and coordination of HIV prevention, care and treatment interventions. Candidates must be fluent in English and Swahili, proficient with Microsoft Office, and able to interpret programme data and prepare reports. Experience with NGOs and government agencies is expected, and no separate preferred qualifications are listed.
FHI 360 is a global human development organisation, and this post sits within its HIV community engagement work in Tanzania. The position is full time and reports to the Senior Regional Technical Officer, Community Engagement, with 50 to 75 per cent domestic travel. The expected annual basic salary range is TZS 52,000,000 to 65,000,000, and FHI 360 offers a competitive benefits package. Qualified candidates should apply online through the FHI 360 career portal by 24 October 2026.
