Quality and Safety Officer
About this role
CCBRT, the Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania, is seeking a Quality and Safety Officer to join its hospital operations in Dar es Salaam. CCBRT is a healthcare social enterprise committed to providing accessible specialized health services while preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, and it also runs extensive maternal and newborn healthcare activities including obstetric fistula repairs. The Quality and Safety Officer role sits within the Quality Assurance department and is central to strengthening the organisation's quality management systems across all hospital operations. The post holder will lead and support the implementation of quality methodologies including 5S, KAIZEN, and Total Quality Management throughout the organisation, and will define and incorporate Quality Management System elements into the Health Management Information System.
Core responsibilities include conducting internal audits and following up on audit results, writing quality reports, and supporting the hospital's complaint management processes. The officer will monitor and assess compliance with the agreed Quality Management System, identify gaps through documentation review, and plan and deliver yearly quality-related trainings to staff. The role involves leading the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan by collecting client feedback and producing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, building capacity among teams to act on customer feedback, and reviewing and communicating progress on standard operating procedures. The post holder will also coordinate internal assessments on infection prevention and control and perform nursing and clinical audits.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in general nursing, midwifery, or psychiatric nursing with relevant professional experience. Essential requirements include knowledge of quality management systems, data analysis, and report writing. Previous experience in hospital settings, familiarity with Tanzanian health regulations, and understanding of healthcare accreditation standards are desirable. The position is full-time, based at CCBRT Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
