About Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation Tanzania (CCBRT)
CCBRT is a Tanzanian NGO, founded in 1994, that runs specialised hospital services in Dar es Salaam and Moshi. It began as a community-based rehabilitation programme and has become the largest provider of disability and rehabilitative services in the country, with clinical work that includes eye care, orthopaedics, cleft lip and palate surgery, obstetric fistula repair, and maternal and newborn care.
Its Maternal and Newborn Wing in Dar es Salaam opened in 2022 to add capacity for vulnerable women, including former fistula patients and women with disabilities. CCBRT's current strategic plan runs from 2023 to 2027 and aims to widen access to specialised care, with subsidised or free treatment for the most vulnerable patients.
