Project Analyst

About this role

UNDP Tanzania is recruiting a Project Analyst to support the second phase of the Dumisha Amani project, a peacebuilding initiative implemented with the Government of Tanzania and backed by the UN Peace and Development Trust Fund. Based in Dar es Salaam, the analyst reports to the Dumisha Amani II Project Manager and works with the UNDP country office team. The post-holder supports strategic planning and implementation of Dumisha Amani II interventions, aligning them with national youth policies, peace assessments and complementary initiatives. The role involves facilitating coordination among UNDP, government institutions, civil society, community structures and development partners, and leading stakeholder consultations and validation workshops.

The analyst provides technical support to strengthen national and community peace infrastructures, including conflict prevention mechanisms and community policing structures, and helps operationalise youth centres as platforms for youth engagement and social cohesion. Duties also cover the National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security, Community Peacebuilding Action Plans, gender equality integration, and monitoring tools tracking youth participation, gender outcomes and peacebuilding impact. The analyst prepares technical reports, case studies, policy briefs and knowledge products, and supports the Ministry of Youth with strategy development and donor coordination. A master's degree in law, political science, international relations, development studies, social sciences or a related field is required, or a bachelor's degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience.

Candidates need at least two years of relevant professional experience with a master's degree, or four years with a bachelor's degree. Fluency in English and Kiswahili is mandatory. Desirable experience includes programme and project management, budget planning, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, networking with partners, and work in the peace and security sector, particularly field cooperation activities or contexts at risk of violent extremism. The position is full time and open to Tier 1 and Tier 2 applicants.
