Programme Support Officer
About this role
UNICEF in the United Republic of Tanzania is recruiting a national UN Volunteer as Programme Support Officer, working under the overall supervision of the Deputy Representative Programme. The assignment blends executive support, donor reporting, grants management and digital information management. The post-holder maintains the Deputy Representative's calendar, arranges meetings and takes accurate minutes. A substantial part of the work involves preparing briefing packages for donor and partner engagements and high-level events, including content creation and photography.
The officer reviews, copyedits and refines donor reports, project proposals and concept notes so they meet UNICEF branding, style and messaging standards, and drafts clear communications to share reports and knowledge products internally and externally. The role also maintains the internal funding pipeline using Excel trackers, produces dashboards and presentations on key performance indicators, and applies digital and artificial intelligence tools to synthesise complex data for statutory reporting. Further duties include supporting grants management, monitoring grant expiry, generating funds utilisation reports, automating repetitive tasks, and maintaining SharePoint repositories. Candidates need at least seven years of experience in programme support, project management, resource mobilisation, grant management or donor reporting within the UN system, an international organisation or the non-profit sector, with demonstrated donor reporting and grant management experience.
Proficiency in enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP and in data visualisation tools such as Power BI and SharePoint is required, alongside fluency in oral and written English. Familiarity with AI-driven data synthesis, automation platforms, photography and design is expected. University graduates are preferred, and knowledge of the local language or another UN official language is an asset. This is a UN Volunteers placement hosted by UNICEF in Tanzania.
Volunteer-specific duties include promoting voluntary action, engaging youth and community-based organisations, and contributing stories to UNV publications. No compensation or benefits are stated in the source. Applications are made through the UN Volunteers platform.
