About this role
S. Mission in Tanzania is seeking an experienced Procurement Supervisor to lead the procurement section within the General Services Office in Dar es Salaam. This is a supervisory position responsible for acquiring goods and services for the Department of State and all other subscribing agencies operating within the mission. The incumbent oversees all procurement and contracting activities, including setting procedures, establishing priorities, managing schedules, and coordinating purchasing operations.

Key responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining ethical and sustainable procurement practices, and managing relationships with local suppliers. Candidates must possess either a bachelor's degree in procurement, business administration, supply chain management, or a related field with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible procurement experience, OR two years of college-level studies with seven years of experience, OR completion of secondary school with eight years of procurement experience.
All candidates must have a minimum of two years of direct supervisory experience and must be able to obtain security and medical certificates along with a background investigation clearance. Fluency in both English and Kiswahili at Level IV is mandatory. The role requires strong knowledge of local market practices, comprehensive understanding of the procurement and contracting process, supply chain management, financial acumen, and negotiation skills. The position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with occasional travel required, no relocation expenses reimbursed, and a permanent full-time appointment under a Public Trust background investigation.
The salary is TZS 77,198,751 per year at LE-10 grade with a promotion potential to LE-10. Applications must be submitted through the ERA system by the closing date of July 9, 2026, with candidates evaluated against all stated qualifications and requirements.
