Senior Change Manager, Localization Transition
About this role
Save the Children International (SCI) is recruiting a Senior Change Manager for a six-month specific contract to lead its Tanzania Country Office through a significant operational transformation. The Country Office is transitioning from a model of direct implementation to a partner-led operating model, repositioning SCI as a technical, convening, and systems-strengthening organisation that supports sustainable, locally led impact for children. This is a complex, high-risk, and high-visibility assignment that requires an experienced change management professional capable of coordinating stakeholders across multiple levels. The Senior Change Manager will work directly with the Country Director and the Senior Leadership Team to plan, sequence, and execute the transition roadmap, ensuring that timelines are met and strong stakeholder ownership is achieved throughout the process.
Core responsibilities include ensuring that staff, partners, donors, and government stakeholders are aligned and actively engaged, managing organisational change across structure, culture, capabilities, and ways of working, and proactively mitigating risks related to delivery continuity, reputation, staff transition, and partner capacity. The role also requires embedding sustainable change systems rather than focusing solely on short-term transition delivery. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in organisational change management, preferably within the development or humanitarian sector, and will demonstrate a track record of managing complex multi-stakeholder transitions. Strong strategic planning skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to navigate high-pressure environments are essential.
The position is based in Tanzania with regular travel within the country as required. Applications must be submitted through Save the Children International's online recruitment portal by the deadline of 9 July 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further stages of the selection process.
