Multimedia Communications Assistant - Intern
About this role
WaterAid Tanzania is hiring a Multimedia Communications Assistant on a fixed-term contract in Dar es Salaam, with possible travel to field offices. The role sits in the Advocacy, Campaigns and Communications department and reports to the Communications and Campaign Officer. The assistant will plan and execute video shoots, prepare scripts, scout locations, set up equipment, and edit short- and long-form video content for multiple platforms. They will take professional photos of events and products, support documentary filmmaking and graphic design tasks such as flyers, posters, social media posts and presentations using Adobe Creative Suite, and contribute creative ideas to campaigns.
Maintaining organised video, photography and design files in SharePoint and the asset bank, meeting deadlines, and championing equity, inclusion and safeguarding are also key responsibilities. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in film, television studies, visual communications, graphic design, digital media or a related field, plus basic camera operation knowledge. Proficiency in video editing software, photography tools such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and graphic design applications including Illustrator and InDesign is required. The role also demands understanding of colour grading, audio mixing, social media formats, and design principles, typography and layout.
Desirable qualities include strong communication skills, an eye for visual storytelling, and the ability to turn creative concepts into finished products. WaterAid is a global federation working for a world where everyone has clean water, sanitation and hygiene by 2030, and the Tanzania country team collaborates with programmes, partners and communities to deliver national change. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week fixed-term post pays a daily stipend for transportation and lunch, with one day off per month worked in a supportive environment.
