SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is a Dutch-based international development organisation present in 24 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, working in the sectors of Agriculture, Energy, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. With over 50 years of presence in Tanzania, SNV operates a diverse portfolio covering climate-smart agriculture, landscape conservation, renewable energy, and WASH. The NOURISH Tanzania project (Empowering Smallholder Farmers for Food Security and Climate Resilience) is a five-year initiative targeting both the central-northern zone (Singida, Dodoma, Manyara) and the Southern Highlands (Songwe, Rukwa), with a focus on achieving resilient food security and improved nutrition among smallholder farmer households. The project has reached its mid-term stage and is now deepening adoption by consolidating access to essential services and strengthening systemic linkages.
The MEL Intern will support the implementation of project monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, working closely with field teams, Value Chain Coordinators, and implementing partners to strengthen timely availability of quality data for project management, learning, evidence-based decision making, and donor reporting. Core responsibilities include supporting the development, deployment and management of digital data collection tools using KoboToolbox and ODK, coordinating with field officers, enumerators and extension staff during data collection exercises, reviewing datasets for completeness, consistency and accuracy, centralizing datasets into reusable data products, supporting data cleaning, validation and quality assurance processes, participating in field monitoring visits and spot checks, compiling routine indicator tracking data, supporting preparation of quarterly and annual reports, documenting outcome harvesting evidence, success stories and lessons learned, and generating summaries, charts and trend analyses using Excel. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Agricultural Economics, ICT, Data Science, Data Management, Computer Science or a related field, with up to two years of relevant experience including internships or research projects. Essential skills include proficiency with KoboToolbox or ODK, experience developing xlsforms, strong Microsoft Excel skills including formulas and Pivot Tables, and basic data analysis capabilities.
